On Friday, September 20th, Town residents and officials will gather to celebrate the completion of Sally’s Way, a 16-unit affordable rental development.  This beautiful new neighborhood, initially conceived 13 years ago, represents a big step forward in addressing the Town’s need for more affordable housing.  Now, however, is the time for us to redouble our efforts to meet the goal of 10% of Truro’s housing being affordable.

Sally’s Way is perfectly located next to the Town’s Library and Community Center and is within walking distance to bus routes to Provincetown and Up-Cape communities.  All sixteen units will have rent levels set designed to ensure that a low-to moderate-income family spends no more than 30% of their income on housing.

One of the Selectmen’s Objectives for the coming year is to work with the Housing Authority to develop a long-range plan for implementing the Town’s Housing Production Plan approved in 2012.  It is my hope that in the coming months we can begin to address the need for more affordable housing on a number of fronts and ensure that Truro remains the vibrant and diverse community that makes this a very special place to call home.
