***MUSIC*** A concert by Cape Cod Connection will bring the Winter Music Series to a close.  Band members are Rob Peters, Ben Kushigian, and Laird Boles; and they play and sing in the Bluegrass, Celtic, Country styles.

Tuesday, April 9, 6:30 p.m.
Films for our Future:  A Film & Discussion Series on Sustainability.  Co-sponsored by Sustainable CAPE: Center for Agricultural Preservation & Education.  These films are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on the second Tuesdays of April, May, and June.
On April 9, the film is Fresh, followed by a Q&A with local organic farmer, David DeWitt.
On May 14, Queen of the Sun:  What the bees are telling us, Q&A with honeybee expert and sustainable horticulturalist Laura Kelley. 
On June 11, The Dark Side of Chocolate, Q & A with organic chefs Katie Reed and Josiah Mayo.

Friends of the Library Monthly Program
The speaker is Joe Manas, representing the French Cable Museum in Orleans.  This former cable station was the American termination point for a telegraph cable that came directly to Orleans from France.
Coffee and conversation begins at 9:30 a.m.  The meeting begins at 10:00 a.m.

Kathleen Henryon “Poetry to Sing About”
Celebrate National Library Month by bringing a brown bag supper to a discussion and analysis of the poetic lyrics the Outer Cape Chorale will sing at their spring concert in May.  Soft drinks and water will be provided.

Elspeth Hay on Local Food Opportunities
Elspeth Hay, whose "Local Food Report" airs on WCAI, will discuss the many markets and farm stands that will soon be opening, along with CSA's (Community Supported Agriculture,) CSF's (Community Supported Fish,) and other ways to access local food.

Second Saturday Science
Build your child's science skills by exploring a variety of interactive learning stations. Among the learning tools are microscopes, magnets, balance scales, gravity, and chemistry experiments.  For 3 to 7-year olds with adult supervision.  No pre-registration is required.

Beginning Saturday, April 13 at 10:00 a.m. through the entire week (weather permitting)
StoryWalk
Read the book Sheep Take a Hike by Nancy Shaw while you are on a hike.  The pages will be placed at intervals behind the Library, and the family can walk and read together.  This will be Truro’s first StoryWalk, the Nationwide Literacy trend that combines reading with walking.  This activity is directed toward children ages 2-10.

Birding for Beginners:  Birding the Library’s Backyard
Do you enjoy wildlife and nature, but wouldn’t consider yourself a birder?  In this one hour workshop, a Mass Audubon naturalist will introduce the outdoor-loving families to the basics of bird watching.  Learn how to adjust your binoculars, use your field guide, and identify common Cape Cod birds as we step outside. Binoculars and field guides will be available.

Multicultural Celebration
Join artists Kaolin Davis, Hannah Shrand, and Eleanor Irving from the Atlantic Spice Co. to explore our community’s diverse ethnicities.  Learn about using spices from around the world and about how families live today.

Earth Science Exploration Fun for Earth Day
Former fifth-grade Truro Central School teacher, Mary Hutchings will lead children in a variety of activities, such as making quicksand with corn maize flour; exploring fossils; making Plaster of Paris shells, stones, and footprints, and more.  Open to ages 6 and up. Please call to register.

Lego My Library
Join us for a drop-in monthly Lego club for school-aged kids. We’ll have plenty of Legos available for creative building.

Ongoing Events

There is an on-going book sale in the Books Down Under Room, on the lower lever of the Library.  It is open whenever the Library is open.

Truro Tots Playgroup meets on Mondays from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m., with a summer hiatus.  The last meeting of the season will be May 13.  This free activity is provided for children aged Birth - 3 and their parents or caregivers.  Toys, stories, songs, crafts, and snacks are provided.  This activity is funded by the Town of Truro.
