Cape Light Compact saves $$ for the Town and residents
1) Cape Light Compact is an inter-governmental organization, which includes Truro, and negotiates the bulk purchase of electric power on behalf of the towns on Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard.
Truro is represented by our newest Energy Committee Member, Peter Fonteccio.
2) Cape Light Compact offers energy efficiency programs for homeowners, which includes FREE home energy audits and FREE efficient light bulbs as well as a rebate program for ENERGY STAR products. This program is funded by a surcharge on every electric bill; so in a sense, you've already paid for it. Why not take advantage of the opportunity?
3) Cape Light Compact provides two levels of renewable electric energy from which homeowners may choose to purchase for a small surcharge:
- 50% renewable = 8.799 cents per kWh
- 100% renewable = 9.499 cents per kWh
By signing up for renewable energy, a homeowner is guaranteed the electric supplier will purchase renewable energy certificates for every kWh that renewable ratepayer consumes.
