6th International Encaustic Conference

Castle Hill Hosts The 6th International Encaustic Conference, the only event of its kind which brings together artists at all levels of experience who work in the medium of pigmented wax. Now In its sixth year, the conference has relocated to Provincetown, a lively art colony nestled into a fishing port at the very tip of Cape Cod. The three-day event of talks, demonstrations and exhibitions will take place at the Provincetown Inn, located at the tip of the tip, June 1 to 3, 2012. The event is co-produced by Joanne Mattera, who founded the conference in 2007, and by Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill, which will host Pre- and Post Conference workshops, May 29 – June 8th. Last year, we had 250 people coming from 35 states and five countries; this year we expect as many as 300, with a greater international presence.

Capital Campaign for Purchasing 12 Meetinghouse Road:
We Need Your Help!

For the past 41 years Castle Hill has brought the best in art and culture to the Outer Cape. As we embark on the next 41 years, your support is more significant than ever. Right now we have the extraordinary opportunity to purchase the adjacent building at 12 Meetinghouse Road, enhancing and consolidating our historic property. To fund this ambitious project we have launched the Campaign for Castle Hill.

We are nearly halfway to our year-end goal of $800,000 toward Capital Campaign purchase and improvement costs. The new facility will enable Castle Hill to host new workshops in such areas as painting, drawing, digital arts, and writing; house 24 more faculty throughout the summer months; and provide additional parking spaces to meet the needs of the Center’s growing audiences. We will be better positioned to continue playing a vital role in arts education for all ages on the Outer Cape.

In challenging economic times we are reminded of the priceless contribution art and culture make to our society. Be part of the tradition and be a catalyst for the future by making a gift of $100, $250, $1000, $5,000, or an amount of your choice. There are still many naming opportunities available!
