Truro receives $141,200 first installment from Green Communities
The Commonwealth has sent the Town of Truro a check for half of the $141,200 Green Communities grant funding.
The next step is for the Town to tighten up its buildings, plug the energy leaks, and install the energy conservation equipment. As we complete the proposed projects, we will become eligible for additional progress payments on the remaining grant funds.
Thanks to grant funding from Green Communities, as well as from Cape Light Compact, 2012 will be a major year for Truro to make progress on our energy reduction plan.
When it comes time to focus on renewable solar systems we are going to be confident that we engineer a system sized to meet our true needs, by then reduced to a new lower level based on the various energy conservation measures.
And speaking of solar farms … somehow, when the landfill at our Transfer Station was capped, it never got certified by the state. And without such certification, no steps could be taken toward our plan for a solar photovoltaic farm sited there. The certification process has been started, but it will take a while for the necessary engineering work to be completed and the landfill then certified.
