Cape Light Compact saves the Town of Truro thousands of dollars!

As a request of the Energy Committee, in April 2010, Cape Light Compact implemented an extensive Energy Scoping Assessment of the following town buildings: Public Safety Building, Library, Town Hall, Department of Public Works Office/Garage, and the Truro Central School.
Cape Light Compact provided an energy engineer and consultant to meet with the DPW Director and the managers of each building. The purpose of the meetings and the walk through was to identify Energy Conservation Opportunities that existed in each of the facilities, with the ultimate goal of taking action towards improving the energy used in each building and to do so in a cost effective manner.
One specific area identified was the use of electrical kilowatts to light the facilities. It was recommended by CLC to “relamp” the buildings by exchanging the old fluorescent lamps and ballasts for newer and more efficient ones.
In September of 2010, Cape Light Compact returned and replaced close to 100 lamps and ballasts combined. The cost of this initiative was over $18,000. The cost to the Town was zero!
Truro is now in the process of evaluating the impact this initiative had on the use of kilowatt hours before and after this improvement initiative.
