Seasons Greetings!
The Highland Links Staff would like to thank you all for a great year and to wish you a happy and safe Holiday Season.
We can only hope this winter is as mild as last winter so we can all get out and play some winter golf. The course is now on the "Honor System" of $15.00, and the golf carts have been taken back for winter storage.
The course is in great shape going into the winter, and all greens have been treated for the cold temperatures. Temporary tees are now in use; and, also, #8 and #9 greens will be temporary.
If you would like to purchase a Gift Certificate or a 2013 Annual Pass for the Holidays, please call me, Jim Knowles, at 508-430-0963 and I will process it and mail it out the same day. Just to let you know the Rates & Fees will remain the same in 2013. So an Annual Pass is $575.00 and a Senior Pass (59 & older) is still $517.50. Gift Certificates can be purchased in any denomination, not to exceed $500.00.
There is that saying in golf that "it's not how, but how many." This story proves that fact ... there are no pictures on your score card ... only numbers.
"There's a tale that's told, presumably apocryphal, about a round of golf that Arnold Palmer and Ben Hogan played in 1960. On the first hole, Hogan scored a textbook par-3. Palmer's drive came to rest in a tree stump; his second shot made it to the edge of the green; then he holed a 40-foot putt for par. On the second hole, Hogan's drive split the fairway; his second shot was on the green; and he 2-putted for another classic par. Palmer's tee shot landed in three inches of water; he blasted his second shot out onto the fairway; his third shot came to rest several feet beyond the green; and he chipped in for par. On the third hole, Hogan executed four more near-perfect precise shots for his third par in a row. Meanwhile, Palmer's tee shot landed in the rough; his second shot landed in a bunker; and his third shot bounced into the hole for a birdie. Whereupon Hogan turned to Arnold and demanded, "Look, dammit, we're here to play golf. Stop fooling around."
