Truro Tots Playgroup (ages birth to 3 years with parent or caregiver) meets Mondays, starting October 3, from 9-11 a.m. This activity is free of charge to participants and is sponsored by the Town of Truro. For information, please contact Maggie Hanelt (508-487-2693).

The library is sponsoring “Second Saturday Science Sessions with Lucy Gilmore” from 10:00 a.m. until noon on Saturday, Oct. 8th, Nov. 12th, Jan. 14th, Feb. 11th, and March 10th. There’s no December session.  Drop by and explore several discovery-based science play stations featuring balls, magnets, magnification and much, much more. These activities are geared for toddler and preschool-aged children accompanied by a parent or guardian.

This year’s Halloween Party is Sat. Oct. 22 1:00 p.m. Meet something slimey...something sneaky...and something creepy. Join us for for the interesting and “creepy” program and then participate in games, face painting, crafts, and tasty food. Come in costume if you like. All are welcome.

The Truro Group is exhibiting in the library’s Anne H. Brock Community Room throughout October. All are invited to the free opening reception on Sunday, October 9 from 2:00 p.m. 'til 4:00 p.m.  

The Truro Library Book Group meets the last Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome.

The Tuesday Afternoon Book Group meets the first Tuesday of each month at 1:00 p.m. New members are most welcome. For additional information, contact Linton Watts at 487-7914. Upcoming titles are:

Weds., Oct. 5, 6:30 p.m. Angela Gerst, author of A Crack in Everything, a Susan Callisto mystery, will read.. This debut mystery novel is a classic story of politics, passion, greed, and murder. Books will be available for purchase and signing. All are welcome.

Weds., Oct. 12, 10:00 a.m. – Jaya Karlson, Wellfleet resident and former San Francisco café owner/manager and longtime cooking teacher will demonstrate and present “The Whey of Cheese Making”. Join FOTL for coffee at 9:30  -  all are welcome.

Wed., Oct., 19 3:30 p.m. - Just the idea of a spider might cause a tingle to run up your spine, and the sight of one may cause you to jump on a chair. But these careful creatures are both beautiful and smart. Join a Mass Audubon naturalist for games and hands-on exploration as we discover the secrets of a spider's web and their most effective hunting practices.

Thurs., Oct. 27, 7:00 p.m. at Wellfleet Public Library – Andre Dubus III, National Book Award finalist for his novel, "House of Sand and Fog", will read from and discuss his recent and highly praised memoir, "Townie," about growing up in Haverhill.  This reading is co-sponsored by the Truro and Wellfleet Public Libraries. Many thanks to FOTL and the Friends of Wellfleet Library for providing the funding for this event.
