The Truro Group, which was founded 6 years ago for the purpose of creating shows in which Truro artists can show their work, is launching its 2011 season with a show at the Truro Library Opening on:

SUNDAY JUNE 5TH from 2-4PM

The show will include the following;

1. Paintings, photographs, jewelry, and glass work created by our members.
2. Two live demos at the Opening , one by Nancy Spillane on the subject of jewelry making and one by Donna Mahan and Christie Andreson, which will be about working with glass.
3. There will also be plenty of munchies to enjoy.

NOTE: During the month of June, the following Group members will also perform live demonstrations at the Truro Library as described below:

• On Wednesday June 8th from 6:30-7:30, Fred Gaechter and Amanda Reed will present examples of their award winning work in the areas of landscape and bird photography respectively.
• On Wednesday June 22, from 6:30-7:30, Joan Pereira will paint a portrait before your eyes.

Please mark the dates in June on your calendar, and we look forward to seeing everyone at our show and at the Live Demonstrations in June.

More than 60 Truro artists are members of the Truro Group. We work in oils, pastels, watercolors, clay, wood, fabric, photography, jewelry and found objects.

The Truro Group also works with Truro Central School students in our mentorship program.

While Truro has always been a place where many artists live, the idea that few ever had a chance to show their work was an important factor in how the Truro Group was formed.

During the spring of 2006, The Truro Group was formed as an organization with the primary purpose of displaying Truro artists' works in any medium. Founding members of the organization include Joan Pereira, Ed Yaconetti, Fred Gaechter, Joyce Johnson, Anne Brock, and Susan Kurtzman. Added to these six are six others who have joined the Board: Cathy Skrowon, Nancy Silva, Pat Canavari, John Tinkham, Phil Redo and Marinna Matricardi.
