Report
The tease of good weather is lingering, which means spring can’t be too far. It also means, before you know it, we will be seeing people start to migrate back to get things running for the season. Spring also means Town Meeting is coming and that annual reports will be out. The Truro Police Department, as usual, created its own report to show you what we have been doing throughout the year. Check it out at www.truropolice.org. There is a limited number of hardcopies located at the public buildings in town, as well as Sweet and Savory and the post offices.
Goals
In establishing the department's goals for the year, my first priority is transparency and to make that part of the organizational culture of the department. We have made great strides towards that end; but, as we all know, more can be done. Below is a list of some of the things we have done to increase transparency:
- We have removed the tint from the front windows of our police cruisers.
- Our policies and procedures are on our website so you can see how we do things and why.
- Our police activity is uploaded to our website every week so that you know what we have been doing.
- We issue frequent press releases on the various things we are doing and reports on incidents.
- Our budget process is open, and I would be happy to discuss it with anyone who is interested.
- Our web survey is up, and we welcome your participation.
New School Zone
Truro has a new school zone designated on Rte. 6. Remember, when the lights are flashing, the speed limit is 20 MPH. For the safety of everyone in the school area, please slow down.
Annual Senior Dinner
The members of the police and fire departments will be holding our Annual Senior Dinner again this year. It will be on Sunday March 27th at 1:00 PM at the Public Safety Facility. Call the police station at 508-487-8730 if you want to come. You need to register because we have a limit of 80 people. This is going to be our 18th year, I believe.
An Open Door
Feel free to contact me or stop in should you have any questions or concerns about anything. I have an open-door policy with the community.
