A board of police officers was formed by Acting Chief John Lunborn to interview six candidates for one open position on the force. The six candidates were chosen from many applicants to have face-to-face interviews. The board met in mid-December for two full days. I was asked to join the board as a selectman and more importantly as a citizen. The interview process was supervised by Sgt. Kyle Takakjian. Other officers were: Scot Holway, Carrie DeAngelo, Craig Denziger, and Martha Wheeler from Dispatch.

The process was very thorough. Each applicant was seen for one and a half hours. The questions covered many areas of police work, situational inquiries ( what would you do if .....) and personal ethics. At the end of the two days a recommendation was made to Chief Lunborn.

It was a valuable experience for me. I came away with a new and deeper understanding of the very high caliber of the Truro Police Department and the candidates. It was a pleasure to work with the board, however brief, and I look forward to doing it again, if asked.

Sincerely,

Bill Golden
