National Recognition
Highland Links continues to be written about in national publications for the unique and special place that it is. We were in the October issue of "Links Magazine" and the October issue of the Wall Street Journal Magazine. As stated in the Wall Street Journal Magazine, "As its name implies, Highland Links, in North Truro, Mass., is one of the closest to a rustic Scottish course in America."
Both articles were depicting the experience that "Highland Links" has to offer as a "Links golf course". In both articles there were pictures showing the magnificent views and setting of the Course.
"True Links"
"Highland Links" was also written about in a new book called "True Links" authored by George Peper and Malcolm Campbell. These gentleman are both esteemed members of the "Royal and Ancient (R&A) golf club in St. Andrews, Scotland, and are both experts in Links golf courses.
In the book they state there are 30,000 golf courses worldwide, but only 246 qualify as true links courses (less than 1%). They compiled the exclusive list by pooling their expertise and used the following criteria. True links courses must have sea views and sandy , dune-like terrain, with fast running fairways buffeted by ever-changing maritime winds.
"Highland Links" of North Truro Mass. was one of only five courses in North America to qualify, one in Nova Scotia and three in Oregon (Bandon Dunes). It reinforces the fact Highland Links is a gem with a worldwide appeal.
