What Are The Opportunities For The Town Of Truro?

Truro has an opportunity to receive significant grants from the State by qualifying as a “Green Community.”

We expect grants of at least $125,00 per year that can be used to make the town more energy efficient, reduce our energy costs, and help keep our tax rate low.

What Do We Need To Do To Qualify?

To qualify, the Board of Selectmen, Town Staff, and the Energy Committee have some work to do on an application, plus we as townspeople need to adopt new bylaws: 

	-	Zone the Transfer Station to permit putting solar panels on the capped landfill.
	-	Adopt the “Stretch” Energy Building code a year before it will be mandated by the State.

These will be voted on at the Annual Town Meeting in April.
