Search Process Until Now

The search process started with the appointment by the Board of Selectmen of the seven member Search Committee.  The members are:

  • Brian Boyle – Chair
  • Mary Abt
  • Fred Gaechter - Vice Chair
  • Linnet Hultin
  • Bob Lawton
  • Dan Smith
  • Phil Smith

The “Charge of the Committee” was provided by the BoS.  The Committee’s stated goal and purpose was to identify the best possible candidate pool of qualified candidates from which the BoS could use to select the new Truro Town Administrator.

The Committee advertised the Administrator position in local, regional and national professional publications.  Forty-five applications were received and the Committee reviewed the applications  over a five week period to narrow the field to fifteen.  At the same time the Committee interviewed Department Heads and Selectmen to create an outline of qualities we wanted to see in a new Administrator.  A Citizen Survey was also completed.  We asked for input from Truro Town residents pertaining to this position.

The Committee narrowed the initial list to eleven and then to seven, six of whom were interviewed over a period of several weeks (one withdrew).  The Committee did an initial background check and each member ranked the interviewees to bring a final list of three highly qualified applicants to the Board of Selectmen.  Those finalists are listed below.

Rex Peterson
