Play in May

As we move into May, warmer temperatures are turning Highland Links an emerald green. The grass is really starting to pop, and the fairways and greens are in super shape.

There are no course closure tournaments in May, so it is a great time to play before the crowds flow onto the Cape for Memorial Day weekend.  With Daylight Saving Time, it does not get dark until almost 8:00 p.m.  So there is plenty of time to catch a quick nine in the late afternoon.

Remember to call seven days in advance to make your reservation, especially for weekend play and definitely on the Memorial Day weekend.  Also, the green fees increase to $35.00 for nine holes and $60.00 for 18 holes starting Wednesday May 1st.  As always, power carts and pull carts are also available.  Call 508-487-9201 from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. to make your reservation.

The practice net by #10 tee will be set up the first week in May, and all are welcome to use this net to practice.  Please bring your own balls to hit.

Pro Shop and Snack Bar

Starting Monday, May 6th, Pro Shop hours will be 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  The snack bar will have a limited food menu until Memorial Day Weekend.  However, many snacks and cold drinks are always ready to pick up during and after a round.

Annual Pass and USGA handicap

Please sign up for your Annual Pass when you arrive in May. And if you want to establish a USGA handicap, the fee is $25.00.  By having a Massachusetts Golf Association handicap established, you can play in tournaments all over the country and the world.  Also, you have a valid way to watch the progress of your game and work on new ways to improve your playing ability.

2013 Tournament Schedule

The staff at Highland Links is always ready to assist you in any way we can.  Please check the 2013 Tournament Schedule to see when there will be days the course will be closed so that you are able to make the appropriate plans for yourself and for any guests you will have during the season.

New Group Buffet Food Service

Also, check out the new Group Buffet Food Service that will be offered after Memorial Day weekend for any group of 12 or more.  If you have a group coming to play Highland Links, what better way than to have some great finger food and drinks available after your round while enjoying the great view on our back deck.

"So I jump ship in Hong Kong and make my way over to Tibet, and I get on as a looper at a course over in the Himalayas. A looper, you know, a caddy, a looper, a jock. So, I tell them I'm a pro jock, and who do you think they give me? The Dalai Lama himself. Twelfth son of the Lama. The flowing robes, the grace, bald... striking. So, I'm on the first tee with him. I give him the driver. He hauls off and whacks one — big hitter, the Lama — long, into a ten-thousand foot crevasse, right at the base of this glacier. Do you know what the Lama says? 'Gunga galunga... gunga, gunga-galunga.' So we finish the 18th, and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, 'Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know?' And he says, 'Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness.' So I got that goin' for me, which is nice."
