Greetings from the Chief of Police

I’m delighted to have the opportunity to say hello to our residents and visitors alike. This is a great forum, which I plan to use to keep you updated on the activities and issues related to the Police Department and also to provide some highlights on the employees who work here. They are a terrific staff, highly dedicated, professional, and committed to serving all of you. This is just one way for me to be able to introduce them to you. As we move closer to the Annual Town Meeting, I will explain projects and items that will come before you as capital expenditure items. This gives me a chance to explain what’s needed and just as importantly, give you the opportunity to speak with me beforehand about what’s proposed. Our phone number is listed below, and I would encourage you to reach out as needed. If I’m on the road, please leave a message; and I’ll be sure and get in touch with you to set up an appointment.

Other Items to Note

Officer Mark Sklut will be graduating from the Police Academy on December 16th. The following Monday he will report for duty and begin his “Field Training Program” directed by Sgt. Craig Danziger. This program includes specific tasks and objectives that a new officer is required to demonstrate and complete under the guidance of an experienced officer. It converts technical and book knowledge learned at the Police Academy into practical real-world applications. We are excited to have him start his career with us.

Provincetown Water Department construction continues on Route 6 from Knowles Heights to Stott’s Crossing. This is a new water main. This phase of construction should be completed soon.

Our ride-along program is still available. If you're interested in riding with a police officer, please stop by or give us a call at 508-487-8730. Also, please check our website, which is updated frequently at www.truropolice.org.
