Greetings from Highland Affordable Housing, Inc.

I am delighted to inform our residents in Truro that Highland Affordable recently completed the transfer of land on Yellow Brick Road to Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod. As you may recall, this land was purchased with Community Preservation Act funds, awarded to Highland Affordable by the Community Preservation Committee and appropriated by all of you at last year's Annual Town Meeting. What this means for Truro is that another family will have the opportunity for affordable home ownership that might not otherwise be possible.

Habitat’s program takes care of all the permitting, site-work, design and construction of the home. They also qualify and select the lucky owners of the home, plus provide a 0% interest mortgage in exchange for a minimum of 500 hours of “sweat equity” in building the home. Our part as a community will be to gather groups and individuals willing to assist in the construction of the Habitat House. Prior to reaching the point of construction, Highland and Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod will reach out to the town for assistance.

For further information, please see habitatcapecod.org or contact Habitat’s Volunteer Coordinator, Ms. Hilary Greene at 508-362-3559 x 16. We look forward to seeing you on the construction site!
